I was reading an article in the Wall Street Journal the other day about personal use of your business phone and what happens if you lose your phone or it gets stolen. Do you have personal data on your business phone? Have you taken pictures or videos of family? Personal contacts? If you lose your phone or it gets stolen, your company will probably use a remote wipe capability so business information isn’t compromised. With that remote wipe, all your personal information will be gone.
But what about your personal phone. Our smartphones in particular are really integrated into our lives. The phones contain plenty of personal information that you’d want to protect. As such, you’d probably want to remote wipe your phone clean so your information isn’t compromised in the event you lose your phone. Back again with that you lose the information…unless you back up the data. We’re all familiar with having to re-enter our list of contacts when we change phones and hadn’t taken the time to back them up with our carrier. It’s not possible to re-enter the photos, etc., that you had though.
Are you backing up your data on your phone? We generally backup the data on our desktop computers (is yours backed up?), why not do the same for our phones? This also opens up the question for all the devices we use (tablets, ipods, ipads, desktops, phones.)
Look for a solution that can automatically sync your data and make it available across all your devices so you can not only know the data is backed up but that it is also acccessible from any of your devices. One such professional solution is JustCloud. Check it out for yourself and see if it doesn’t provide a complete backup solution for you.
